Deals in the Works

Hey, friends and fellow lovers of Santa Barbara. This month, we've weighed all the factors in considering the best neighborhoods in SB (part 1, of course!)?We're also walking you through the doors of a few of our hottest deals in the works ?

The Best Neighborhoods in SB (Part 1)?

A stunning view over The Mesa in Santa Barbara.
Santa Barbara is paradise.

Yet, there are slices of paradise that will suit you better than others.

The good news is that you can't lose no matter where you settle down.

The bad news? It's tough to pick from a treasure trove of desirable neighborhoods.

To make things easier, we've considered the critical factors that define the very best neighborhoods in SB.

The Mesa
We've written about the Mesa before and have helped dozens of people buy and sell in this marvelous pocket of the city. What makes the Mesa one of the most spectacular destinations in SB?

"Mesa" in Spanish translates to "table" which is fitting for this lofted community. The Mesa rests on scenic bluffs above Santa Barbara's west side and the Pacific Ocean.

The Mesa begins just past the Harbor and ends at Las Positas Road and is comprised of three areas, East Mesa, West Mesa, and Alta Mesa.

Living in the Mesa grants you primo access to a few of the most awe-inspiring beaches and parks in the city such as Hendry's Beach, Mesa Lane, Leadbetter Beach, Shoreline Park, Douglas Preserve, and Elings Park.

A Bird's Eye View of SB Neighborhoods ?

Take to the skies to see gorgeous views of the Mesa, Downtown, and three other premier SB neighborhoods in this video.
Mesa Elementary, one of the best elementary schools in the city, is located on the Mesa and is part of the Lompoc Unified School District.

Mesa inhabitants enjoy their own tiny city within the city. The marine layer often creates slightly different temperatures here than in the rest of SB, and the medley of grocery stores, restaurants, bars, and cafes feels exclusively curated to this area.

The Mesa is home to the ever-famous Lazy Acres market and the Cliff Room, an ageless SB dive bar.

The Mesa serves up calming views of the Pacific, access to some of the best beaches and parks in the city, and an eclectic selection of shops. It's heaven for adults, kids, dogs, and water-loving people alike.

Our New Downtown Listing is Live ?

"Downtown townhouse" might be a mouthful, but it's worth it to live in this luxury space in the heart of the city at 216 East Figueroa Street.
Downtown
Unlike larger, bustling cities, downtown SB offers the best in local commerce without the chaos and congested traffic.

North of Highway 101 up to State Street and Milpas, the heart of the city is littered with historic buildings and white-washed, contemporary Spanish builds.

Downtown SB hosts an irresistible culmination of wineries, cafes, breweries, and high-end eats spanning worldly cuisines. The looming stucco Courthouse with its manicured lawn is a hotspot for wedding photos, visitors, and locals wanting to eat lunch outside.

"Downtown has become the most popular location to enjoy the best of Santa Barbara urban living," says our very own Garrett McCaw.

"A few of the biggest attractions include the farmer's market on the State Street promenade, the Funk Zone, as well as several theaters and museums to enjoy the arts."
Highlights of Downtown
  • The Courthouse
  • El Presidio
  • Handlebar
  • Santa Barbara Museum of Art
  • The Arlington Theatre
  • The Funk Zone
